The Royal Show International area will, once again, provide UK and international visitors advice and assistance on all key livestock issues.
The British Livestock Genetics Consortium (BLG) will be running the Livestock Export Centre at the Royal Show this year for and with the International Animal Health team (IAH) from Defra (the UK government department responsible for agriculture, food and farming), with support and involvement from RASE. It will form part of the Global Science & Business Centre (formerly the International Centre). It will be sited next to the International VIP lounge for overseas visitors.
In association with the Foreign Office, RASE has invited Ministers and officials from a host of countries. As last year, Defra may invite some Chief Veterinary Officers (CVOs) also, to help restore or establish certification post-FMD (Foot and Mouth). All CVOs are being offered associated off-site visits to farms, breeding units, etc, before or after their visit to the Show.
BLG will staff the stand with a team of experienced livestock specialists who can also arrange to take visitors to see the livestock or meet breed representatives of their interest.
It's the only time when IAH participate with a stand at a show and it's a chance for stakeholders across the sector to seek advice and help from the dedicated LEC team with regard to queries on livestock, genetics and meat export certification, marketing opportunities and market access, etc.
It is also a key venue for meetings with visiting overseas officials (Ministers, Chief Vets, etc) to develop certification and trade. Others served are visiting business delegations and individual overseas visitors.
International livestock visitors to the Show are invited to contact BLG in advance at blg@britishlivestockgenetics.com
